Humanities & Sciences

About Department

The department of Humanities & Sciences (H&S) is established in the year 2008 in KG Reddy College of Engineering & Technology (KGRCET). This department offers a strong foundation for the Engineering Education by the dissemination of the requisite knowledge both in Basic sciences and Humanities through various innovative and active teaching learning methods, tutorials, make up and remedial classes. We do extend one to one and group mentoring to the students. The students are exposed to various activities through the clubs to ensure their holistic development. The H&S department includes the departments of English,  Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The department has well qualified (Doctorate and Post doc) and experienced (5 years- 36 years) faculties to deliver the best to the aspiring students. In addition to the teaching of English as a course, we have a Public speaking club that inculcates confidence, develop communication skills and personality traits and groom our students as excellent communicators and global leaders. The department has well equipped language laboratories and well-trained faculty members who can guide the students to learn and curate their language quotient to the requirements of job market. Mathematics is the queen of sciences and technology while Physics is the language of Engineers. Without the application of Mathematics no complex Engineering problems can be solved. Department has a Computational Mathematics lab and helps the students to solve numerical equations using Mathlab. To solve the mysteries of nature, Physics plays a prominent role and the engineers use this physics as a language for finding solutions to many engineering problems. We have well equipped labs to train the students on the basics applications. Both well-equipped laboratory and expert faculties are crucial to deliver the subject and to make the learning enjoyable. The study of Chemistry is essential to understand the chemical reactions in all the manufacturing process. Our chemistry department has both well- equipped labs and expert faculties. In short, the department of humanities and sciences plays a key role in churning out the future change makers and engineer strong technocrats.

Our Vision

  • To establish a strong foundation in basic sciences such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, which in turn help the students to excel in their core engineering discipline and also train them to acquire proficiency in English language communication.

Dean Message

Congratulations for your success and securing a seat in K G Reddy College of Engineering &Technology. Here at KGRCET we believe that, “Well begun is half done”. Your Engineering program starts with the first year courses offered by the department of Humanities and Sciences and success in the first year lays the course of a stronger destiny. The Department provides a rich curriculum and allied activities to ensure a comprehensive education for the Under Graduates and prepare them to be technically well-off critical thinkers, problem analysers, problem solvers, socially responsible citizens, and team leaders in a wide range of careers both in the government and in the private sector. During their study, the students complete their course work, participate in a variety of co-curricular programs and extra- curricular activities leading to their holistic development. The Department caters five undergraduate programmes and all the enrolled students are exposed to a rigorous teaching learning process through various activities, visits, projects expo, hackathons etc under the guidance and supervision of expert faculties in a well disciplined way. We ensure that the learning is enjoyable and happens in a stress free environment. The Department faculties are highly qualified, experienced and dedicated to nurture the future technocrats.

I sincerely wish you a worthy, fruitful learning experience and a comfortable stay at KGRCET. “ALL THE BEST”

KGRCET supports research among the faculties and students. For this purpose we have established a Center for Research Innovation and Development (CRID) headed by the Dean Research , assisted by associate Dean Research and CRID coordinators from each department. We have designated research labs in each department labs to promote research activities. A well matured research policy is envisaged for this purpose the CRID conducts FDP’s Workshop’s awareness programs etc. on research and every care is taken to maintain quality and ethics among the faculties and the students. The college encourages the faculties to publish quality papers in Scopus, web of science and SCI journals  every support is provided to the faculty to publish papers, to attend conferences etc. The institute provides opportunities to the faculties to collaborate with other institutes and leading institutions.

Value Added Courses

With the sole aim of developing socially conscious individuals at local, regional and national level by inculcating a sense of social responsibility we have established the Centre for Innovation and Social Transformation (CIST). During the Academic year we have conducted 2 courses as value added courses for the first year and in the AY 2023-24, we continue to offer the same courses Design Thinking and Sustainable Development (DTSD) and Social Innovation (SI) to the first year students as credit courses for value addition. Through these we have Initiated village visits and had interaction with the village elders and understood their problems, defined the problem, pitching, analysis, arriving at solutions, prototyping and finally product development. They provide cost effective and affordable solutions to literacy promotion, hygiene, health care, education and agriculture.

provide the additional learning materials like question bank, hand written notes, recorded videos and university question papers with solutions and utilize the tutorial classes to clarify the student doubts if any in various courses. Also we conduct revision classes for difficult topics in different courses which helps them to prepare well for the mid and semester end examination. As a part of the Continuous Internal Evaluation in each course the students are to give presentations on the topics listed by the concerned faculty. This also helps them to learn the topics, gain confidence and develop communication skills.

The advanced learners are encouraged to do the certification courses along with their regular course work. The college offers 8 certification courses in the first year. The students are also encouraged to participate in project based learning, hackathons, online courses and internships.
