Centre for Engineering Education Development

CEED

KG Reddy College of Engineering and Technology has established the Centre for Engineering Education Development (CEED) with the objective of fostering innovations in teaching and learning practices. Aligned with the institution’s vision of New Age Engineering, CEED collaborates with faculty members to promote student-centric teaching methodologies through various capacity-building initiatives. CEED conducts regular faculty development programs covering diverse topics to enhance faculty awareness and expertise in evidence-based pedagogical approaches. Comprising faculty from different departments, CEED designs and facilitates these programs, including a semester-start program tailored for new faculty, which emphasizes student-centered learning alongside sessions on mentoring, ethical practices, and classroom management. Additionally, CEED conducts workshops throughout the semester, covering areas such as Bloom’s Taxonomy, active learning, assessment principles, technology integration, and outcome-based education. Another focus of CEED is to support faculty in documenting and publishing papers on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), with paper review sessions aimed at analyzing education-focused journal papers. Members of CEED also encourage faculty to publish in engineering education conferences and journals. As a result of CEED’s initiatives, faculty members at KGRCET have been able to implement active and collaborative teaching methodologies, with some transitioning to blended formats and developing course websites to enhance student learning beyond traditional classrooms. CEED remains committed to supporting faculty in improving their teaching practices and helping students achieve intended learning outcomes in engineering education.Furthermore, CEED has received recognition for its outstanding contributions to engineering education, both nationally and internationally.

Teaching and Learning Conclave

At KG Reddy College of Engineering and Technology (KGRCET), an outcome-based approach is followed, wherein faculty members employ innovative teaching methods to align with the objectives of Outcome-Based Education (OBE). As per the established standard operating procedure, all faculty members are required to integrate 20% of their classes with student-centric or innovative teaching methods. These implemented activities, along with student reflections, are showcased during the monthly Teaching-Learning Conclave organized by the Centre for Engineering Education Development (CEED). During these conclave sessions, faculty presentations undergo rigorous evaluation and critique by external experts from various teaching and learning centers worldwide. This process ensures continuous improvement in teaching practices and encourages the adoption of effective methodologies that enhance student learning outcomes.
