Department of Civil Engineering had organized a guest lecture on the topic " Slope Stability analysis by using different methods in Slope/W Software " on 1st September, 2023 for our final year students of the Department of Civil Engineering, KGRCET, coordinated by Mr.Rathna Chary M and Mr. Thangamani K, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering. The eminent expert Mr. Ch. Hari Naga Prasad, Ph. D, Research Scholar, Department of Civil Engineering, NIT, Raipur, CG had been invited to deliver the lecture.The Session was carried out online by the resource person through google meet. The session started with the brief introduction of the resource person by Mr. M. Rathnachary, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, KGRCET. Mr. Naga Prasad, explained to the students about overview of the slope stability analysis and Slope/W software. He mentioned the importance of slope stability analysis by stating it is a static or dynamic, analytical, or empirical method to evaluate the stability of slopes of soil- and rock-fill dams, embankments, excavated slopes, and natural slopes in soil and rock and this can be evaluated by using different slope stability analysis software’s. He mentioned that, Slope/W is the leading slope stability software for soil and rock slopes, analysing both simple and complex problems for a variety of slip surface shapes, pore-water pressure conditions, soil properties, and loading conditions. During the session students participated actively and interacted with the resource person.
