The Department of Civil Engineering, KG Reddy College of Engineering and Technology, organized an insightful online guest lecture titled "The Role of Supplementary Cementitious Materials in Sustainable Concrete" on 3rd May 2025 for II-Year, II-Semester B.Tech students.
The session was delivered by Dr. Srikanth Koniki, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, CBIT, Hyderabad. Dr. Koniki shared his expertise on the importance of using supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) such as fly ash, slag, silica fume, and metakaolin to improve the durability and sustainability of concrete. His presentation emphasized how SCMs contribute to reducing the carbon footprint of construction activities while enhancing the performance of concrete in various structural applications.
A total of 32 students actively participated in the session, gaining valuable knowledge on sustainable practices in civil engineering.
Mrs. P. Rajitha and Mr. K. Sai Kumar Chary, Assistant Professors from the Department of Civil Engineering, coordinated the session. Their efforts in organizing this session contributed to the students' academic enrichment and understanding of eco-friendly construction materials.
