Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organised a Guest lecture on IoT apphcations to III CSE students on 21-06-2022. The coordinator of the program Mr. Vijaya Bhasker reddy introduced speaker Mr. Basava Dhanne to all the students and handed over the session to speaker. The main obejctive of this program is to create awareness on IoT applications and their implementation in current societal needs. Where students can develop their own IoT projects relavent to different applications The speaker stered the session with an introduction to the IoT, definition and current stauts of IoT across the world. Also gave detailed information about various hardware modules used like Contorl units like ARDUINO, ESP8266 and Raspberrypi etc, Sensors and Actuators like DHTII, DHT22, Gas sensor LCD display, Buzzer etc, also discussed about various software The history of IoT and the Frequency bands used also presented for students. The term 'Internet of Things' was coined in 1999 by the computer scientist Kevin Ashton. While working at Procter & Gamble, Ashton proposed putting radio-frequency identification (RFID) chips on products to track them through a supply chain. tools used like ARDUINO IDE, programming languages as Python, Java etc A novel IoT application like Garbage Monitoring System is shown and explained in detail, how IoT make use of this in daily life. a waste management system introduced here in which each dumpster is embedded in a monitoring system that will notify the corresponding personal if the dumpster is full. In this system, it is also possible to separate wet and dry waste into two separate containers. This system provides an effective solution to the waste management problem
