Department of Computer Science & Engineering has organized “ A — 3- day workshop on IoT Using Raspberry Pi” on (14 — 06 — 2023 to 16 — 06- 2023) for the students of B.Tech III Year CSE - A & B classes. KG Reddy College of Engineering & Technology encourages the IoT Using Raspberry Pi workshop successfully introduced participants to IoT concepts, empowered them with practical skills, and fostered creativity and collaboration. The workshop was a positive and enriching experience, leavirig participants motivated to further explore the world of IoT. Dr. Harikrishna Bommala, Associate Professor & Mr. Y. Venkata Rao, Assistant Professor from Department of Computer Science and Engineering has been conducted Workshop. The session started with addressing the participants and introduction of the Resource Persons by
Dr. S. Bharath Reddy , Associate Professor & HoD, CSE.
The Resource Persons have discussed The IoT (Internet of Things) Using Raspberry Pi workshop was a three- day event aimed at introducing participants to the concepts and practical applications of IoT using Raspberry Pi, a popular single-board computer. The workshop covered a range of topics, including the basics of IoT, setting up a Raspberry Pi, connecting sensors and actuators, and building IoT projects.
Topics Covered in Workshop:
The IoT Using Raspberry Pi workshop covered a range of topics over the course of three days. Here are the key topics that were included in the workshop:
Topics List:
- Introduction to Raspberry Pi and its features.
- Setting up a Raspberry Pi board.
- Installing and configuring the operating system (Raspbian).
- Basics of Linux command-line interface (CLI) and Python programming.
- Overview of common sensors and actuators used in IoT projects.
- Wiring and connecting sensors and actuators to the Raspberry Pi.
- Reading sensor data and controlling actuators using Python.
- Introduction to GPIO (General Purpose Input/Output) pins.
- Communication protocols for IoT (e.g., MQTT, HTTP).
- Data visualization and analytics for IoT applications.
- Cloud integration for remote monitoring and control.
- Security considerations in IoT projects.
These topics provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of IoT concepts, hands-on experience with Raspberry Pi, and the ability to build their own IoT projects using sensors, actuators, and programming skills.

S. Encourage participants to explore and experiment with IoT concepts beyond the workshop.
Day 1
The first day of the workshop focused on introducing the participants to the basic concepts of IoT and familiarizing them with the Raspberry Pi platform. The topics covered included:
- Understanding IoT and its components.
- Introduction to Raspberry Pi and its features.
- Setting up a Raspberry Pi board.
- Installing and configuring the operating system (Raspbian).
- Basics of Linux command-line interface (CLI) and Python programming.
Participants had the opportunity to practice their newly acquired knowledge by executing simple Python programs on the Raspberry Pi. The day concluded with a discussion on project ideas that would be implemented Qing the subsequent days.
Day 2:
the second day, participants delved deeper into IoT by learning how to connect sensors and actuators to the Raspberry Pi. The topics covered included:
- Overview of common sensors and actuators used in IoT projects.
- Wiring and connecting sensors and actuators to the Raspberry Pi.
- Reading sensor data and controlling actuators using Python.
