A group of 3rd-year students participated in a two-day Artificial Intelligence & Robotics Workshop held on 31 July and 1 August 2025, organized by Ascend Initiatives in collaboration with Innow8. The workshop provided hands-on exposure to emerging technologies, real-world applications, and practical learning in AI and robotics, encouraging students to explore innovative solutions for the future.Participating in an AI and robotics workshop in 2026 is an immersive experience that bridges the gap between theoretical algorithms and physical execution. These workshops typically follow a "high-intensity, structured" model designed to turn beginners into creators within a short timeframe, often culminating in the development of a "portfolio-ready" project. As a participant, you can expect to engage in hands-on activities such as assembling robot chassis, selecting motors for specific torque-versus-speed requirements, and wiring sensor-based navigation systems. The AI component usually focuses on Edge AI and Machine Learning, where you will learn to create datasets and train models for real-time inference, such as enabling a robot to distinguish between objects or navigate a complex obstacle course autonomously.

Beyond the technical skills of coding in Python or C++ and mastering the Robot Operating System (ROS), participation offers significant professional and academic advantages. In today’s competitive landscape, admissions officers and employers prioritize "mentor-validated, deployable projects" over simple online tutorials. These workshops often emphasize Responsible AI, teaching you to document system limitations and safety thresholds through "model cards." By working in small cohorts, you also develop essential "soft" skills like collaborative debugging and technical problem framing. Whether the goal is to enter a national competition at a premier institute or to build a social-impact tool like an AI-powered healthcare assistant, these workshops provide the physical hardware and expert mentorship necessary to move from static code to dynamic, real-world motion
