The Department of Civil Engineering in association with HIEE Empowering Engineers Private limited had organized three days’ workshop on “Total Station Surveying” from 29th December 2022 to 31st December 2022 for 3rd year and final year students. The objective of this workshop was to impart adequate working knowledge on surveying using Total Station equipment.
On the first day in the morning session, Inaugural Session was conducted followed by theresourcepersondeliveredalecturetostudentsaboutvarioussurveyingmethodsand instruments, concepts of surveying and data collection using Total station. Further the lecture continued with introduction to Total station & its Bands, Parts of Total Station, control panel introduction, Display (LCD) introduction. In the afternoon session, Hands on session in the field using Total Station has been carried out where students were divided into various batches. Students learned to perform Centering and levelling, opening a job and creating a file in Total station, saving a file in total station, setting up a total station with assumed coordinates, measurement of known area and area calculation using Total station.
On Day 2, students learned about coordinate systems, how to set up station pointusing ground coordinates and set up of back sight point. Further, hands on session in thefield using Total station was carried out where students did reconnaissance survey for fixing the station points, reference points. They collected field points of the given area with reference to coordinates and further cross verified with respect to Googlemaps.
On Day 3, Students learned how to transfer data from total station to PC, Post processing of data using AutoCAD, preparation of map coordinates taken, selection of stake points on the map. Further students proceed to field to stake out the points using total station on ground.
After the hands-on session, Speakers Mr.K.Balachandu and Mr.C.Samuel Peter were felicitated by Principal Mam Dr. Y. Vijayalata, KGRCET. In the valedictory session, Dr.SoumyaSingha,HODCivilDepartment,facultiesofCivilDepartmentandstudents were present. Students given their feedbacks on three days’ workshop. Faculty coordinators of this workshop were Mr. Jagadish Harannati, Mr. P. Mahantesh, Mr. G. Venkatasai Prasad. Lastly, the session ended by the vote of thanks delivered by Mr. G. MounikaNaidu.
